Stefaan Declercq

In September 2024, Stefaan joined Tender Law, where he mainly assists our clients with problems and disputes during the implementation phase of public contracts. Stefaan combines his work as a solicitor with a part-time position as a postdoctoral researcher at KU Leuven. In the latter capacity, he is a sought-after speaker, regularly organises study days, and also acts as editor-in-chief of the Private Law Blog.

Stefaan holds a Master's degree in History (KU Leuven, 2008), a Master's degree in Law (KU Leuven, 2012), an LLM (Universität Bayreuth, 2013) and a ManaMa in Company Law (KU Leuven, 2015). After his studies, Stefaan started working as a solicitor at KPMG law (2013-2017), where he mainly focused on complex commercial and company law cases. As a trainee solicitor, he also won the jury and audience awards twice as best pleader at the VPG moot court competition in Brussels (February 2015) and at the Southern Netherlands Moot Court Competition in Breda (April 2015).

Ewoud has a special knowledge of public procurement in both the classic and special sectors. Next to a strong legal basis, his extensive experience has given him very practical insights into the concrete application of public procurement legislation. He uses these insights to provide assistance and advice, but also in the training courses he gives to both public bodies as well as private entities.

From 2017 to 2023, Stefaan was a doctoral assistant at the Institute for Contract Law at KU Leuven, where he successfully defended his doctoral thesis on notification in contract law (die Keure, 2024, XXII+578 p.) in June 2023. During his assistantship, Stefaan also devoted himself to various teaching tasks and publications in evidence and contract law. In addition to this mandate, Stefaan handled part-time cassation files with Ms. Caroline De Baets from 2020 to 2024, focusing on civil law.

During the 2022-23 academic year, Stefaan was also a substitute lecturer for the course Persons, Family and Family Property Law at KU Leuven. Stefaan is also a member of numerous international research groups, an editorial member of the Annotated Civil Code and a correspondent for contract law at the Journal for Notaries.
